Student Resource

Welcome to Mrs. Dobler's Classroom

The Holy Cross Student Resource program is designed to assist classroom teachers in addressing the academic needs of students who could use additional assistance with reading as well as students who would benefit from challenging enrichment activities. The criteria for selection of students includes test scores and teacher recommendation based upon student classroom performance.

There is no extra charge for these services.

Students in kindergarten through fifth grade who could use additional assistance in developing their reading skills meet in small groups during the language arts block every day. Individualized testing in reading is done at the beginning of each school year to help determine which students would benefit from small group instruction.

Advanced students are also selected to receive additional small group instruction, generally once a week for thirty minutes. Students work with a variety of materials and complete various activities and learning units that develop their skills in logical thinking, problem solving, and creativity.

If further assistance is needed, parents may engage the services of Academic Language Therapists or other tutors to work with their child during the school day at Holy Cross.
